something about APPLE here: I am APPLE fans and like their products. By open this blog, I am not trying to BIAS toward APPLE company. Some of the fact below supported my decision. They introduced the computer MOUSE to the world. They changed the way we look at SMART Phone. They boosted up the use of 3G network. They were the first to use USB port as the main connection for computer system. They were the one who able to make a media centre to sync with every devices in your family. They made thing that work magically simple for us. Everything above and more to come... APPLE

iPad 2

First times to write about my feeling toward new product here. iPad 2 will be out soon. But I am not happy about SINGAPORE is missing in the 2nd Shipment list. I will have to wait till APRIL for it to come.

Anyway, let start the topic about "THE YEAR OF iPAD 2" from Steve Job. Being a so called "Fans BOY" or "APPLE's product just work". I would like to say APPLE has given me a lot of time to do my own things instead of troubleshoot every single problem that happen during the installation.
I will think this year is really "iPad 2" year. Not because I am a fans boy but with all the APPS that work on iPad. The development teams behind it. The new features that support in iOS 4.3. The hardware that syncing with the device. No other competitor will able to meet it basic functions.

APPS - Apple has a great team that work with developer. Provide feedback and technical support to help developer on their new apps. WIth 65k of apps that are working with iPad. Competitors are far behind from this number. Which company will able to catch up when developer are able to gain back 70% of the sales? The strategy worked so well that no one able to compete with.

APPLE - Every gadget just worked so well with one and others. For example, you may stream video from your iPhone to your APPLE TV to enjoy show on a bigger screen. You may stream your music to Airport Express's speaker to enjoy music on a HiFi system instead of the small speaker on your iPhone. That is something which separate APPLE from others. I do know that majority of People out here still using Microsoft Product. But being an APPLE user for 3 years and I would like to say once you into it. You have no choice but to stick with it as nothing else you are going to fancy about.

The price of the software, the way the gadgets worked together, the seamless setting on both hardware and software side, the impact that given to the world of human race... everything that made me LOVE APPLE more and more. And I am not able to imagine a day without Steve around. He is the GOD... cos GOD is a human but doing some extraordinary things. I do hope that he will recover soon and make this world a better place to live.

Use Time Machine to restore setting on New Mac

How to restore a hard drive using Time Machine

When Apple introduced Time Machine with OS X 10.5 Leopard, it became easier than ever to prepare for a data disaster—the only serious effort Mac owners running Leopard or Snow Leopard need to make is to plug in a hard drive. While we hope your hard drive never goes south, if it does actually fail, you'll thank Time Machine for backing up your data.

Time Machine backs up your system settings, documents, and applications, making it easy to not only recover from a failed hard disk, but also to migrate these files to a new computer, or to a hard drive that's faster or has more capacity. Here's how to restore your data from Time Machine.

Step one: Prepare your drive

Unlike some utilities that simply make a bootable clone of your hard drive, Time Machine saves your files, applications, and system settings in a format that can be used to restore this data to a formatted hard drive with OS X already installed.

If you have a new hard drive, or had to erase and repair your old drive, you first need to install Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6 on the drive, using the discs that came with your computer or a retail version of Mac OS X that supports different types of Macs. When the OS installation is done, the system restarts and you're treated to a little tune.

If instead, you've purchased a new Mac and want to transfer your data from an old Mac to the new one, it's a piece of cake. Since the new Mac has a fresh installation of Mac OS X, simply start up the system and the music will start playing.

Step two: Select Time Machine restore

When you've booted off your new installation of Mac OS X (whether on the new computer, new hard drive, or an erased and repaired old hard drive), you'll be guided through the steps to set up your Mac. You'll see a screen titled," Do You Already Own A Mac?" asking if you'd like to transfer your information.

Choose the third option, From a Time Machine Backup. Click Continue.

Step three: Specify a Time Machine backup

Connect the hard drive containing your Time Machine backup via USB or FireWire. The Time Machine backup will show up in a list called Select a Backup Volume. You can also find and restore from a Time Machine backup on your local AirPort network. Select your backup and click Continue.

Step four: Select the information you want to transfer

This screen asks you to choose what data you'd like to restore. It calculates the size of your User folders, Applications, Documents and other files, which can take quite a bit of time, depending on how much data you have. All of the choices are selected by default. Uncheck the boxes of any file types you'd rather not bring over. Click Transfer when you are ready.

Step five: Wait

That's it. Your files will transfer over and when finished, your computer will restart. If you chose to copy over all file types, your desktop picture, dock settings and everything else will appear just as they did on your old hard drive.

Enabling Airprint in Mac OS X 10.6.5

My home printer has just shifted near to my Airport Extreme router. So I was thinking on hocked it up using a USB cable to my router and establish the airPrint function which supported by the latest iOS update. The main motive of this project is to make use of your MAC OS X to build a bridge and connect to the printer. Simple instruction to follow.

By Machmeter. Original by Lionel - 11/11/2010 17:19:01 CET - Category: Apple - Source: 9to5mac

As previously announced, Apple didn't enable Airprint in Mac OS X 10.6.5, therefore blocking the possibility to share a printer with an iDevice running iOS 4.2.
It is however possible to re-enable that option by installing manually the files that were in the last beta:
  • Download the files here: http://cl.ly/99eaa26e6a7273db9ca0
  • You will have to install them in an invisible folder called 'usr'. you can make it appear by typing the following line in the Terminal:

    open -a Finder /usr/

  • Copy the content of the folder 'mime' into 'share/cups/mime/' and 'urftopdf' into 'libexec/cups/filter/'

this is where files should go:

    /usr/libexec/cups/filter/urftopdf

    /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.convs

    /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.types
  • Remove your printer from the printing preferences
  • Reboot
  • add your printer again and activate printer sharing.
  • If everything went well, you'll be able to print from an iOS 4.2 iDevice. Of course, there is certainly a reason why Apple didn't enable the option, and there could be some bug. If you choose to enable Airprint, we advise you to do a backup of your system in order to be able to go back in case of a problem.
